Bujold gets inside of my head like few other authors have. Ekaterin's interior dialogue is searing, brilliant and heartbreaking. Miles is still delightful, if a little older and maybe, just maybe wiser. He's always been a genius, but now he's less apt to dive in without thinking.Gorgeous writing, elegant plot, superb pacing throughout. 4.5
