Ash tastes like Tam Lin, but it does not satisfy in the same way. I do applaud the fairy tales aimed at the GLBT teen, as this is, but ultimately it didn't entirely work for me. The heroine is likable enough, but the story is muddy- the magic is muddy, even. The relationships are turbid, the prose, while otherworldly, doesn't stay with one. I wanted to like it far better than I actually did. 2.5, rounded up.
