Delightful mashup of fairy tales & fables, brilliantly enhanced by the inimitable presence of Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg. Every time I read one of Pratchett's books with these two, I am freshly pained by the fact that I envision myself, in my secret heart, as someone quite like Granny but in painful fact, I'm a dead ringer for Nanny. Cor! Pratchett is consistently hilarious. He hits on all cylinders- he's brightly funny, smarmily funny, sophomorically funny, classically funny... you name it, and he can twist it into something that I feel compelled to read aloud to whomever happens to be sharing my space.
