People of the Book: A Novel
Brooks keeps reinventing herself, never visiting the same territory twice. I adored March. I loved Year of Wonders. I was predisposed to like this. I think this novel has an interesting but not particularly fresh plot device and the characters seemed to me more icons than individuals. Well-done but not fully-fleshed. I was disappointed and walked away feeling unsatisfied.
