Rylant takes on the missing two years from Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie series and I think succeeds very well. Covers the time between On The Banks Of Plum Creek and By The Shores of Silver Lake. The voice rings true, the main events are factual though very sad, and the illustrations are adequate. A worthy addition to the canon.
